Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. One donation can save up to three lives.

The Iowa State Blood Drive is a lasting tradition at Iowa State University. Established in 1962, the Iowa State Blood Drive has grown to be recognized as one of the largest students ran blood drives in the nation. Each semester, the students organize a blood drive to give students, faculty, and staff the ability to give the most precious gift there is, the gift of life. Iowa State Blood Drive works with the American Red Cross to help the shortage of blood in our hospitals.

Although an estimated 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood at any given time, less than 10 percent of the eligible population actually donate each year. Many do not understand the need for blood donors in our world today, and the Iowa State Blood Drive attempts to combat that need every year.
